Data from nature, for nature

Showcasing the UK’s deepest reservoir of environmental data
A compilation of the final visualizations created for UKCEH, sat side by side on a plain cream background.

Across the world, for many decades, the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology’s science has made a big difference.

UKCEH generates some of the longest, largest and most comprehensive environmental records on the planet. Yet not enough people are aware just how much they have impacted government policies, business innovation and environmental action.

So we created a campaign to raise awareness of UKCEH’s role as a steward of environmental data – and to drive audiences to use the data, tools and models it creates.

We used a rich range of formats – statics, short animations, one-pagers – to highlight the astonishing breadth of UKCEH’s work. Cosmic rays that help measure how soil moisture affects crop health and biodiversity. Riverflow data that reveals how floods and droughts will impact our future. The changing patterns of everything from pollinators and plants to nitrogen and greenhouse gases. Decades of data from nature, for nature.

Charts, motion graphics, photography and editorial all helped to create a suite of concise yet compelling stories, showcasing how UKCEH empowers researchers and decision-makers to play their part in protecting the environment.
